Ofsted

Hermitage was inspected by OFSTED in March 2014 and was graded as a good school.

We were pleased that OFSTED recognised  the innovative  and creative practice in the school which leads to our happy and  enthusiastic learners,  and their good progress and high attainment.

They commented on the "exciting teaching" and "intriguing activities" which "creates a happy atmosphere for learning." Our pupils are "self confident... They are polite to each other and at ease with adults."

They highlighted that "pupils in all year groups make good progress" and  "pupils increasingly reach standards that are well above national average... more able achieve well and far more pupils than average attain the highest level 6 in both maths and writing.. because of the schools relentless focus on challenging all pupils to achieve the best they can"

We are also proud that they recognised that our  "pupils with special educational needs make good progress...and become successful learners" and that our pupils who recive pupil  premium make good progress and "there is almost no gap in their attainment when compared to all pupils nationally"

We are never complacent at Hermitage, and are working hard to move to becoming an oustanding school through closing the in school gap between the attainment and attendance of pupil premium and other pupils.
