Extend and Enrich

We believe that learning takes place indoors and out, throughout the day, and in many different places. Trips, residentials, work with partners, and  opportunities before and after school are all experiences that make Hermitage an exciting, challenging and fun place to learn.

We belive that residentials offer our children the space to develop some of our core values of independence, resilience, cooperation, tolerance and supportiveness.

In year 3 and 4 we visit the Hardelot centre , near Boulogne, in France, to practice our French, sample french culture and food, negotiate passport control and stay abroad without our families!

We practise using Euros and our French to order ice cream...

and paddle in La Manche!

In  Year 6 we have a week long residential at Gorsefield, near Stansted Mountfitchet. Thsi residential concentrates on building teamwork and leadership skills, as well as developing  skills in cycling, archery, orienteering, woodcraft , shelte rbuilding. There is a lot of fun and friendship too!

Time to test our nerve as we climb trees.

Shelter building requires teamwork and perseverance.

Gorsefield is always one of the most treasured memories of  Hermitage pupils.
