Welcome to Hermitage School & Athena Unit

To those of you who already know us, we hope this site feels like an extension of your school—a place you can visit anytime for information or to proudly show us off to family and friends. To those we have yet to meet, we invite you to explore and learn more about what makes Hermitage so special.

Hermitage is a happy and vibrant one-and-a-half form entry primary school in historic Wapping, just a short walk from the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and St Katharine’s Docks. We are part of the LETTA Trust, a family of five primary schools, and we work hard to ensure our pupils make the most of our amazing location.

Our pupils are at the heart of everything we do. They are friendly, well-behaved, and come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds. They love learning, and by the time they leave us, they are achieving results that are above the national average.

Our progressive eight-year curriculum reflects our multicultural community and location. Creative projects are a highlight of our wider offer, including recent collaborations with the Royal Albert Hall, O2 Young Voices, Wick Court Farm and the Unicorn Theatre.

Our premises are extensive and unpolluted, with a pond, wildlife, and forest school area. This brings a slice of the rural primary school experience right here to central London.

From September 2025, we are proud to open the Athena Unit, a dedicated provision for autistic children who are learning using the engagement model. This unique provision is at the forefront of inclusive practice and helps us continually develop our expertise across the school. At Hermitage, inclusion is about belonging, and so it involves every single one of us.

Our key to success? We work hard, together, at doing the right things that will make the biggest difference, and we get help from our friends. So have a browse, get to know our school, and, if you’d like to learn more, please come & visit us.

We can’t wait to meet you.

Our Vision

Our vision is expressed as a set of eight promises, linked to our values, that we make to every Hermitage child.

To all the pupils at Hermitage Primary School, the staff and governors at Hermitage promise you that by the time you leave us:

You will have friends and will have learned how to treat other people with fairness, kindness and respect.

You will have discovered the joy of helping others and the difference this can make to the world.

You will love learning new things, believe it can take you anywhere and want to keep on learning more.

You will have grown healthy and strong and understand how to take care of your body and mind.

You will know that life is a fantastic adventure, have dreams for your future and the confidence to take on the challenges that await you.

You will understand that the world is a wondrous place and be inspired to make a difference. You will have explored both near and far.

You will have had fun, discovered your talents & had the opportunity to express yourself in many different ways.

You will have discovered the many ways to use your voice to share what you believe in; with the confidence to speak up and speak out about what matters most to you.

Our Values

We all know and live by our values. They run right through us and guide everything we do.

At Hermitage, we are:

Caring

We treat everyone as we would like to be treated. We try to help others to feel happy and safe.

Courageous

We love a challenge and never give up, even when it feels like the easiest thing to do.

Creative

We try new things and use our imagination to explore different ideas and ways to show who we are.

Clever

There are lots of ways to be clever. We aim high, try to be the best that we can be and work hard to solve problems & learn new things everyday.
