The Tower Hamlets Book Award 2022

The Tower Hamlets Book Award 2022 was very interesting! A group of Year 5/6s were selected to attend the prestigious ceremony due to their excels in reading this term. Excitingly, it was held in the East Winter Garden at Canary Wharf.

Whilst we were there, we got to watch fantastic presentations by some local primary and secondary schools as well as meet four famous female authors: Sita Brahmachari, Jo Nadin, Gemma Fowler and Sabine Adeyinka, who signed copies of our books! However, the most exciting thing was still to come…the unveiling of the winner… and we were all pleased to find out that Burhana Islam won first prize for her fabulous book, ‘Mayhem Mission’.

During the visit we got to enjoy the lights at canary Wharf and then we were met with a surprise on the overground back to school, when we met one of the authors again! It was Sabine, the author of, ‘Jimmy at the River School’.
