Hermitage Parimary School

Trips

We believe that learning takes place indoors and out, throughout the day and in many different places.

Trips, residentials, work with partners and opportunities before and after school are all experiences that make Hermitage an exciting, challenging and fun place to learn.

Residentials

We believe that residentials offer our children the space to develop some of our core values of independence, resilience, cooperation, tolerance and supportiveness.

In Year 6, we take our Year 6 pupils to Wick Court Farm in Gloucestershire. This is a Farms for City Children farm, established by Michael Morpurgo and his wife. The children have an amazing week learning new skills and developing their independence away from home. They have to care for a whole range of animals and take responsibility for making sure that the farm runs smoothly!

In Years 3 and 4, we offer the opportunity for the children to attend a residential at Kingswood in Kent. This is an outward bounds centre where the children have the chance to try lots of adventurous activities, including the zip wire, archery, shelter building and campfires!

Every three years, we take a group of children to visit the Hardelot centre, near Boulogne, in France, to practice our French, sample French culture and food, negotiate passport control and stay abroad without our families!
